Dead Marshes 01

Acrylic on paper; 16x20" 300ppi. This was a paper which served as a surface protection for painting other things. It began to pick up some interesting textures so I started randomly painting it. The Studio was active today, so it was difficult to try to do anything too involved. As I worked on the values it reminded me of the "spirit candles" of the Dead Marshes in Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"
