Particle Tracks by The-Tinidril Particle Tracks by The-Tinidril
Acrylics on canvas; 11x14"

Abstract painting based on a photo from National Geographic (May 1985) captioned: "Particle-track pyrotechnics from a bubble-chamber detector flash on a screen at CERN. Debris from subatomic collisions leave distinctive wakes. For instance, electrons and positrons spiral tightly in opposite directions." The original image on the screen was in black and white, but I thought it would be fun to play with color :D

My favorite kind of abstraction is when the artist achieves a sense of the organic.  This is beautiful - and oddly calming.  Odd because the image was born of subatomic collisions which sounds like anything but calming - ah, but then abstract work is quite often a conundrum, is it not?  Thanks so much for sharing it.

Peace,
Kate
